Honey and itís uses



†††††††††††† Because of its popularity with the many who tried it and wanted the recipe from our open day as well as the Dartford Festival, the visiting Scouts and Cubs, the Honey Cake and Honey Flapjacks return to the site for one more month.




†††††††††††† 6oz Honey

†††††††††††† 5oz Butter

†††††††††††† 3oz Light Muscovado Sugar

†††††††††††† 2 eggs (beaten)

†††††††††††† 7oz Self Raising Flour


1. Heat oven to gas mark 3, butter and line 7inch tin

2. Heat butter sugar and honey in a pan until sugar is dissolved

3. Mix in flour and eggs

4. Pour into tin and bake for 40ó45 minís

†††††††††††† 7oz Demerara Sugar

†††††††††††† 7oz Honey

†††††††††††† 14oz Porridge Oats

†††††††††††† 2oz Glace Cherries (chopped)


1. Pre heat oven gas mark 4 and grease Swiss roll or cake tin

2. Heat butter sugar and honey in a pan until sugar is dissolved

3. Add oats and cherries and mix well

4. Place in tin and spread to about 3/4 inch thick

5. Bake for 15ó20 minís until golden round the edges but soft in the middle.

6. Allow to cool in the tin then turn out and cut into squares






†††††††††††† Glass of Milk

†††††††††††† Large scoop of Ice Cream

†††††††††††† Desert spoon of Honey

†††††††††††† 1/2 Banana


1. Take 1 slice off the end of the Banana to garnish the glass

2. Place the rest of the banana and other ingredients into a liquidiser

3. Blitz until smooth

4. Pour into glass and top with the slice of Banana

†††††††††††† 1 Egg beaten

†††††††††††† 1 Teaspoon Vanilla

†††††††††††† 4 Tablespoons Honey

†††††††††††† 16oz Shredded Coconut

†††††††††††† 8oz Walnuts chopped

†††††††††††† 8oz Dates chopped

†††††††††††† 2 Tablespoons Plain Flour


1. Mix together the Honey, Egg and Vanilla.† Beat until well blended and then stir in the coconut and nuts.

2. Coat the dates with flour and add to the mix.

3. Drop tablespoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet

4. Bake at gas mark 3 for 12 minutes or until slightly brown.

5. Makes approx 30
